Code of Conduct

As a producer of printing and packaging materials and services, we are committed to being a responsible organization, service provider and contributor to society. New Island believes that we must uphold our core principles and values whilst conducting business in accordance with the national laws in each country in which it operates and withstand international standards of good business practices.

Business Integrity – New Island recognizes to do business with integrity, honesty and fairness.

Legal Compliance – New Island complies with the applicable laws and regulations those countries in which it operates.

Shareholders Commitment – New Island is committed to increasing shareholder value in union with compliance as a good corporate citizen.

Conflicts of Interest – New Island requires all employees and directors to act in the best interest of the company. Employees and directors are not to use any information or assets of the company for personal gain or to compete against the company. Any matter that may give rise to a conflict of interest should be avoided. Full disclosure of the conflict must be made if in any case conflict arises.

Political Involvement – New Island businesses must not participate in any political actions or make payments to any political parties without prior approval of the Board.

Financial Inducement – New Island does not make offering, requests, receive payment, favours or gifts in exchange to win business opportunities, business awards, any improper advantages or to influence a business decision. Under no circumstance will New Island make, offer or receive in act of bribery.

Privacy and Information – New Island respects the privacy of individuals and the sensitivity of confidential information. The disclosure and use of confidential information is strictly prohibited. Our Privacy Policy sets out our policies on the use, collection and management of information.

Raising Concerns – New Island ensures that employees and directors are alert and aware to raise concerns regarding illegal conduct, victimization, harassment, discrimination, misconduct, professional negligence or incompetence.

The company’s Code of Conduct is freely accessible on the Group’s intranet and is maintained and communicated to all employees for compliance.

Our Environmental Policy sets our position and commitment provide as a responsible manufacturing business and service provider. We are committed to meeting and exceeding expectations of regulatory and other best practice environmental requirements. At New Island, we strive to take measures to minimize our impact on the environment and to continuously improve in our environmental management system.

At New Island we are committed to

  • Comply with related environmental statutory and regulatory laws and other applicable standards
  • Strive to prevent, eliminate and reduce waste by improving operations and reusing materials wherever possible
  • Prevent the occurrence of pollution wherever possible
  • To seek continuous improvements in our environmental, health and safety performance by setting and reviewing regular objectives and targets based on requirements of law and trade partner requirements
  • Integrate environmental good practice in our research, product development and training
  • Encourage the use of papers with chain-of-custody certification

Responsible Sourcing

At New Island, we want to do business responsibly and that we expect our suppliers to do the same. We work with suppliers from across many industries and they have a major impact on our quality and ethical sustainability commitments. We expect our suppliers to also do business with integrity, openness and respect. We also encourage our suppliers to acknowledge their social and environmental responsibilities in order that we meet our aim of purchasing goods and services in a sustainable way.

We provide training to our employees so that they are aware of our guidelines for responsible procurement. We communicate to our suppliers our expectations and requirements for purchasing.

We select our suppliers on a professional, systematic and fair basis. Our negotiations with suppliers are honest and fair at all times.

We recognize the importance of confidentiality. We ensure that confidential information received from our suppliers is not disclosed to any unauthorized persons or companies.

 

Labour Policy

New Island’s commitment to upholding the protection of human rights of all workers where it is possible through our sphere of influence. Our practices ensure that all employees are treated with respect and dignity, are working under their own free will, and are being properly compensated for their efforts.

Employees must meet the minimum age requirement set by local laws. New Island does not accept or do business with suppliers that employ child labour.

New Island is committed to a workforce that is free of harassment, free from inhumane treatment, mental or physical coercion and unlawful discrimination. Race, colour, religion, national origin, gender (including pregnancy), age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status or any other status are protected by the laws or regulations in the locations where we operate.

We encourage continuous improvement and provide regular training and knowledge learning activities to our employees. Environmental training, safety use of equipment, technology advancement updates and management training are some of the examples.

We encourage work-life balance for our employees. Hence, regular communication building and leisure activities such as staff birthday parties and sports for voluntary participation are organized.

 

Health & Safety Policy Statement

New Island is committed to providing a safe and hygienic working environment to our employees, with safety regulations and procedures in place. We provide training on industrial safety and fire prevention for all new employees.

  • New Island complies with all relevant workplace and health safety legislation.
  • Workers are to be provided with ready access to clean toilet facilities, potable water and sanitary food preparation, storage and eating facilities.
  • Where worker dormitories are provided, they are to be maintained clean and safe, with adequate heat and ventilation.
  • Procedures and systems are in place to manage, track and report occupational injury and illness.
  • We actively encourage controlling risk in workplace activities

New Island strives to maintain and continuously improve the workplace health and safety for all persons including staff, contractors and visitors.

 

Working Hours

Working time includes all hours actually worked; attendance at required training and certain other periods. At New Island, required working hours and leave comply with local government regulations and laws in the place of business where it operates. New Island encourages our staff to have healthy exercise and work-life balance.

 

Remuneration

New Island’s remuneration system is to reward personnel for good performance, increase motivation and commitment to the company’s long term objectives in management, performance, growth and development in such areas as sustainability.

At New Island, we meet or exceed wage standards and requirements set by the local government in the place of business where our business operates. All wages and employment benefits are paid and awarded in accordance with all applicable local government laws.

 

Discrimination

At New Island, we do not discriminate on the basis of age, race, colour, religion, ancestry, gender or gender identity, national or ethnic background, disability or handicap in hiring, salaries, benefits, advancements, termination or retirement.
