2023 has been a wonderful recovery year. We are blessed that our packaging business across all industries is steadily picking up. Our Hong Kong trade fairs are operating up to 85% volumes from pre-pandemic. Flying is resumed and were able to see many new and familiar faces this year at Cosmopack 2023. The global economy seems to hold back a bit but retail sales volumes in Hong Kong and China are healthy. We are very optimistic for the coming year and we hope you are also ready for an exciting 2024.
This year we are proud to have launched our newest antimicrobial brand and product; Self-Sanitize SpikerTM. SSS is a revolutionary antimicrobial paper packaging that provides a SAFE, HYGIENIC and ECO-FRIENDLY product to consumers. Accredited laboratories have independently confirmed that SSS-coated paper packaging kills over 99.9% of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria; whilst also deactivating most viruses, including human coronavirus (COVID-19). This product is especially applicable to healthcare, personal care, children’s products and direct food contact products. Now available at minimal additional cost. 2024 also marks New Island’s 60 years of service. Our desktop calendar this year adds a bit of fun and each image is designed with a different way to express 60. In celebrating 60 years, we also take the opportunity to promote environmental and social awareness. Beautiful packaging can also be eco-friendly. Beautiful packaging can be kept and repurposed. We hope our customers can choose better and have in mind when designing. New Island has also pathed out stones this year to achieve more ESG goals for 2024.
