New Island wishes you a joyful 2025
According to Chinese astrology, 2025 is the year of the SNAKE. The Chinese snake symbolizes wisdom, intuition, insight, renewal and growth. Respectfully the snake is often referred to as “little dragon” as the legends of the snake described that the creature formerly was a dragon dethrone and fell from heaven.
The story begins with the snake’s original form having four legs and a menacing appearance causing other animals to keep their distance. The lonely snake went into hiding in dark corners and over time it became angry and attacked others with its sharp poisonous teeth. To punish it, the Jade Emperor cut the four legs and spared its life. Since then, the snake regretted his actions and was repentant. Whenever evil thoughts arose in its heart, it would shed its skin, symbolizing letting go of its past and starting anew. When the time came for the great race, the snake compensated for not being the best swimmer by hitching a hidden ride on the horse whilst crossing the river. The snake jumped out in front of the horse, scaring it, just before crossing the finish line in sixth place. The Jade Emperor was moved by its perseverance and forgave the snake for its past wrongdoings. Although unable to win back his legs, the snake won back its position and respect from others.
2025 is the year of the wood snake symbolized by a green snake. For individuals, this year brings opportunities for reflection and self-development. The elements of wood amplify these qualities of self-regulation, transformation and making decisions for growth. It is time to shed the past quickly, address what could be done better, plan for the next big thing and move forward. Snakes are private in nature, quietly yet strongly pursuing ambitious goals as they hate to fail. Snakes are strategic and flexible, a trait which we should all embrace when facing this year’s challenges. Be prepared for changing circumstances and growth opportunities, stay focused and take necessary precautions.
For businesses, this could be a year to lay out the stones for an ambitious move. The snake can swallow an animal bigger than its size, reflecting ambition. Its flexible and adaptable nature implies openness to change, more resilience to face uncertainty and better adaptability to new situations. The snake’s flickering forked tongue is used to smell food and danger. Be wise, be inspired and make strategic decisions towards the challenges ahead. The snake’s tongue is also a symbol of argument, dispute and slyness, this should not be ignored in business situations.
Snakes are emotionally detached, which sometimes can manifest into coldness and selfishness. It’s difficult to gain the trust and trust a snake. They seem to be calculating and only concerned with their own welfare. They do not appear passionate and often protect themselves by detachment, which again, lies on the trust issue. On the other hand, snakes also have a vulnerable side to their personalities and can easily be hurt emotionally, sometimes in defense, they can develop fiery temperaments and escalate situations. Remember to keep calm and collected.
Snakes are artistic, taste-makers, materialistic and love to possess the best of everything. They also have a tendency towards physical beauty and can be sensitive in this aspect or even vain. This could be good news for “all things beautiful” especially the beauty, arts, AI and creative industries.
